Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival and pick-up, move into accommodation – charming, local style – futon on tatami floor, bath in onsen

Visit to the Farmers Market, make your own mochi

Meet the Taiko club and test your sense of rhythm on the big drums

Enjoy a kabuki performance followed by a guided tour of Japan’s oldest wooden theater

Dance in traditional dress at the Nebuta Festival and become part of the celebration

Learn how to make the famous soba buckwheat noodles under the guidance of the chef, get to know the izakaya culture and cuisine

Meet the region’s knife-wielding “demons”, the Namahage, and learn about the folkloric custom

Prepare Kiritanpo, Tohoku’s most famous dish, yourself at the farmstay and meet the lovely hosts

Visit the sake brewery on site, sake tasting, prepare amazake, sweet non-alcoholic sake and miso yourself

Marvel at the performance at the dragon festival or become a participant yourself and bring the dragon to life

Learn about rice cultivation and plant or harvest rice together with local people in the traditional way

Make your own bento box in the traditional Tohoku way

Learn the Bon Odori or Yosakoi dance and visit a high school to find out about everyday school life in Japan

Your accommodation is located in the tranquil town of Kosaka. Typical for traditional Japanese houses, there are so-called “washitsu” rooms, i.e. rooms with tatami mats as flooring and the so-called futon, instead of a Western-style bed. Depending on availability, you can choose between a Japanese or Western-style room.

  • Pick-up from Haneda/Narita:
    On request, we can pick you up from landing in Tokyo Haneda/Narita and accompany you to Odate Noshiro for an additional charge.

This trip is payable in two installments:

Deposit
After the booking has been made, you will receive the first partial invoice for the deposit of 40% of the total travel costs in addition to the order confirmation.

Final payment (balance)
The final payment of 60% of the total travel costs is due no later than 30 days before the planned start of the trip.
